Nursery...almost perfect

After having Rebecca, Josh's mom, here for a week and my parents for a few days we now feel like the nursery is complete. (Well, Josh feels that way. Of course my pregnant brain can think of sooo many things I still have left to do!). We absolutely LOVE it! Josh's mom painted the walls and did an amazing job. She also helped us brighten up the ugly white shelves and gave us many decorating tips! My mom and dad came in two hours after Rebecca left to go home and helped us add all the finishing touches to make the room complete! We are so grateful to both of our parents for all they have done to make our little Sophi's room just what we had hoped for! Thank you Rebecca for taking a week away from work to come all the way to California to paint for us. It is a gift that we truly treasure and we will always tell our little Sophi the story of her Grammy painting her first room. And now the anticipated pictures....let me just say that they do not do justice to how absolutly adorable the room really looks!

Thanks again Rebecca and Mom and Dad for all you did to make this room everything we hoped it would be. We couldn't have done it without you. Now all we need is our little girl to make the room perfect!!

While we were in Atlanta a few weeks ago, my cousin's wife (and long time friend) Amy Chamblee along with her mom, my cousin Rachel, my Aunt Karen and many other wonderful women from my home church, North Atlanta Church of Christ, threw Sophi and I a baby shower. Josh and I were overwhelmed with the support and blessings we received that day. Thank you to all those who made that day such a memorable day for me.

Josh's mom is flying into LA tonight to spend a week with us and paint Sophi's nursery! We are so excited to have her here. We are so grateful for her willingness to do this for our little girl. What a special gift from a special Grammy! I will post before and after pictures next week when it is done!

I leave you with a belly picture from 30 weeks, entering the third trimester! I am now 32 weeks and still feeling pretty good. I know I am very lucky and I am counting my blessings. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday and look forward to hearing how Sophi is doing! We will let you know!

Vacation

It is the final day of Josh and I's much anticipated last vacation before we have to stay put in Pasadena for awhile, anxiously awaiting Sophi's arrival. I am sad to go back tomorrow to the busy work week. We had such a great, relaxing, fun trip spending most of our time in Panama City Beach with my parents at their condo. It was so nice to sleep in, lay out on the beach all day reading good books, eat fresh fried shrimp every night for dinner (ok not every night, just almost every night!) and have time to actually think out loud with Josh without any distractions. Sometimes I wish every week was vacation week, but I know if this was the case a vacation would not hold the same meaning and feeling! Here are some pics from trip.

Thanks mom and dad for making this trip possible for us. We had such a great time and were able to get the much needed rest and relaxation we needed. We now feel a little more prepared for Sophi's arrival! We can't wait for next year's trip...with Sophi in tow!

Birthday and Father's day

This past weekend we celebrated Josh's 27th birthday! We did dinner and a movie and saw "Away We Go" which we would both highly recommenced! Sunday we celebrated birthday and father's day with our small group from church.

Josh got a new video camera for his birthday!! Now he is officially ready to be a dad!

Finally, I am now 28 weeks and entering the third trimester. Looking forward to these last few months of preparation, anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little Sophi!

On June 16, 2009 little Evie Scobey made her entrance into this world. My little brother is now the proud daddy of a precious, beautiful baby girl.

Evie, I love you already more than I can express. I can't wait for you to meet our little Sophi. I pray the two of you will be the best of friends, share all the ups and downs of life together, and find together in your precious little hearts a love for God that goes deeper than any other love you will ever know.

Graham and Ashley, I am so proud of who you are and the parents I know you will be to your little one. Josh and I promise to be here for both of you to encourage you through those difficult moments and celebrate with you in your moments of joy. We thank God that we get to share this journey of parenting with you.

25 weeks...

I am now 25 weeks along and everything is going very well. I am gaining a considerable amount of weight, normal, but considerable for me! All my vitals and blood work continue to look good. Sophie's heartbeat is going strong and she is measuring right on target, as am I! Here are few quick tummy pictures for your enjoyment:

Just the two of us...

Josh and I took this past long weekend as one last opportunity to get away "just the two of us." We visited San Francisco, a place neither of us had ever been before (well I guess I went there when I was like seven or something but I don't remember it!).



We stayed in the Union Square area while there which is the shopping district of San Francisco with the Macy's, Nordstrom, and many, many more! I got to do a little shopping the first night we


were there (what little shopping you can do when you are 5 months pregnant!) Thanks Josh!

It was MUCH colder than we expected it to be while we were there (everyone had their winter jackets on. I didn't even know Californians owned winter coats!). This was a typical picture of me throughout the weekend, drinking Starbucks hot chocolate or mocha to stay warm and cozy!


On Sunday, Josh and I got up early and took on the challenge of biking the Golden Gate Bridge. We started in Fisherman's Warf, rode up to the bridge, across it and then down into the cutest little town called Sausalito. It was a bit cold but so much fun! What a great way to see the Golden Gate Bridge. And Sausalito was such a neat place. Next time we go we would love to just spend the weekend there!





We took the ferry back from Sausalito to Fisherman's Warf parked our bikes and stopped in at the world famous Boudin's Sourdough Bakery for some yummy clam chowder in an AMAZING sour dough bread bowl. It was a great way to warm up and it was soooo good! We got to see them making the bread which was really cool too!




After lunch we took a quick walk down Pier 39, taking in all the smells and sounds of that crazy place. We made sure to stop by and see the Sea Lions "sunbathing" on the pier (honestly, this was somewhat gross to me as there were soooo many of them!).




Our next stop was Alcatrez, where we took the awesome audio tour of the old maximum security facility. We both really enjoyed the tour, it really made you feel as though you were there experiencing a part of history.

The next day we drove down the famous crooked Lombard street, a must see while there! Can't believe they built a street like that!




Our final stop before heading out of town was to check out the famous "painted ladies." For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about based on the picture check out the row of houses behind me, these are the "painted ladies." Any Full House fans out there?! These houses are in the opening song of the show!




We had such a great time getting out of town and spending time "just the two of us" exploring a fun new city. Our next weekend get away will be " just the three of us!"
