Little Maddie is 18 Months Old!

Our precious Maddie is a year and a half old!

Ok, are we done yet?!

I'm sooo over this!

Maddie is our climber!! Turn around for a second and she is standing on top of the table saying "ta da!" with pride. Fortunately she is good at climbing on AND off of things. She is much more agile than Sophi ever was and has great balance. She loves to go to the playground and climb with the big kids. 

Just in the last few weeks her talking has taken off. She can mimic almost anything you say. A few of the words she says right now are Shiloh, Sophi, Momma, Dadda, ta-da, thank you, night night, lovie, paci, puppy, george (for Curious George her favorite show), snack, cracker, oatmeal, and the list could go on and on! I love hearing her sweet voice!

She is also still our drama queen! She is very quick to throw a fit but can also be pretty quick to stop! She is FULL of personality!

She still loves to read and can now point to and name many objects in her books. Other things she loves to do right now are play ring around the rosy (especially with Shiloh!), chase Sophi around the house, and jump off anything and everything as well as dancing to any kind of music!

This reminds me of her daddy!!

She has started walking on her tip toes all the time!

She still has bright blue eyes and her hair continues to grow long, dark and curly!

She and Sophi are becoming very close friends and while she still does not want Sophi helping her with anything, she does enjoy playing with Sophi and still wants to be doing whatever her sister is doing. She still throws a fit when we drop Sophi off at school because she does not get to go too.

A few other things about her right now:

-her favorite thing to eat is yogurt. She also loves cheese, crackers, oatmeal, most fruit and fruit snacks. She does not like vegatbles of any kind (besides peas and green beans which she is allergic to of course), casseroles of most kinds, and most chocolate. 

-She takes one 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and has to have her lovey and paci in order to sleep

-Not only is she allergic to eggs, lagumes, and nuts, she is also allergic to wool, grass, dog saliva and cats.

-she has started becoming interested in babies which will prove helpful in our future!

-she loves doing puzzles and playing pretend with food

-she loves animals and really enjoys petting the kangaroos at the zoo

Maddie during this month of Thanksgiving we can't help but thank God for the precious gift he gave us in you. We are honored to be your family and are excited to continue watching you grow.

Sophi is 4!

Our precious Sophi turned 4 last week! Where has the time gone?! She is such a big girl and Josh and I are relishing this special season of life with her. She is still full of adventure, so creative, tender hearted, super talkative, always inquisitive and just down right lovable!

We celebrated in style by having a Royal Tea Party with her sweet friends.

 Sweet Sophi,

We have loved watching you grow this year from a toddler into a beautiful young girl - both inside and out. Your smile is contagious and your laughter fills our hearts with pure joy. You have become such a good big sister to Maddie and an amazing helper for mommy. We are so proud of the way you love and respect your friends and listen and obey the adults in your life. Your passion for creativity is so fun to watch, we love that you find so much joy in making cards for others.

But of all the things we have loved about watching you grow this year, one of our favorite is your desire to read God's word. You love learning about the different characters in the Bible, the way God used them and changed them. You especially love learning about Jesus. You are so inquisitive and your desire to know more and go deeper in your understanding of Him inspires us to want to do the same. We are so excited to continue this discovery journey with you into the heart of God over this next year. We love you so much and thank God each day for allowing us to be your parents. What a blessing you are to our family!

Maddie is 15 Months!

I feel like Maddie has grown up so much in the last three months I'm not even quite sure where to begin!

She is pointing to and starting to name lots of things; mouth, nose eyes, etc.

Sophi remains our talker but Maddie is beginning to use more words and signs which is SO helpful!

She currently says: Dada, Mama, Shiloh, Sophi, Lolly, Pops, bottle, mama(marshmallow), woof-woof (dog), bubub(bubbles), cack(snack), Uh huh (with head shaking up and down for yes), shoes, duck, quack, and book.

She signs more, all-done, please and thank you.

She also just started putting words together saying "Bye Bye DaDa" and signing "more please."

Two of her favorite things right now are reading books and dancing. She LOVES music and can't help herself but dance whenever she hears it.

 She enjoys pointing to objects in books, in particular animals!

 Some of her favorite books right now are Moo, Ba, LaLaLa, Goodnight Gorilla, Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

 She still has a flair for the dramatics and while she is saying more words these days she still gets easily frustrated and is quick to throw a fit of epic proportions! While she often uses her dramatics for anger or frustration she also enjoys using them for excitement which brings with it a lot of funny faces...

 ...including one of her favorites: sticking her tongue out at you.

 

 This is her sly face...usually follows disobeying or doing something she knows she shouldn't!

She still LOVES to run away when you are trying to change her clothes, diaper or put her to bed. She has now added the fun of trying to hide!

 She still has her beautiful blue eyes with long dark lashes and super curly dark hair!

 The humidity at the beach made those curls super tight!

 She LOVES to dress up, especially put on bracelets and necklaces which she does all on her own!

She and Sophi have really started enjoying playing with each other. Maddie is always trying to keep up with Sophi and her  cousin Evie and Sophi's friends!

 She is most certainly a daddy's girl and prefers him over most anyone else!

 However, she did do some bonding this summer with several people including Aunt Ashely!

A few other things about Maddie since turning one:

-she climbs up the stairs and down without help 

(no more baby gates!) as well as the ladder on the swing set and chairs and tables

-she wears size 9-12 month clothes

-she loves to eat any kind of fruit, bananas and oranges are her favorite right now

-she is allergic to eggs, nuts, grass and some weeds

-she can work toddler puzzles and has started matching colors

-she only takes one nap a day (about 1 1/2 hours on average) and sleeps 12 hours at night

-she LOVES to swim and be in the water

-her teeth are coming in all at the same time! She has her top two molars and her bottom two are coming in as well as ALL of the rest of her teeth

 

 Maddie, we are so thankful God placed you in our lives. We love your adventurous, dramatic, sweet spirit and can't wait to see all that God does in you over the next few months.
