Four Months Old!!

Today Sophia turned 4 four months old!! Josh and I were reminiscing about what we were doing four months ago today and marveling at how quickly our baby girl has grown!
Sophi had her four month check up last week and weighed in at 13 pounds 3.5 ounces putting her in the 45% for her weight. She measured 24 and 3/4 inches long continuing to keep her in the 75% percentile for her height. Josh and I are anticipating that she will be taller than her mommy! Her head measured 16 inches putting her in the 45% for head circumference. The doctor said she was doing great!!

Sophi is now reaching for everything and anything she gets a hold of goes directly into her mouth. This is currently her way of showing you she likes something, putting it in her mouth. She is constantly trying to put mommy and daddy's faces in her mouth!! She is moving a good bit when put down on the floor. She can wiggle her way around the floor and is rolling over occasionally but still not consistently. I feel, though, that crawling is not far from our future! She still loves to stand and jump most of all!

She can now sit in her stroller front ways and LOVES to watch EVERYTHING going on around her when on walks. She loves to laugh and has the BEST giggle which her dad brings out best in her. She likes to talk to you when she is in the mood, but currently seems to be pretty introspective (knida like her dad!).

She is changing daily and we love watching the sweet personality God has given her start to shine through. We can't wait to see all that he has in store for her in the coming month!

Christmas 09...part 3 and New Years

So the final stage of our three part Christmas adventure took us to Atlanta to celebrate with my parents and Ashley, Graham and Evie! We had so much fun watching the girls unwrap all their gifts!! Sophi started to interact with Evie a little more than at Thanksgiving. Evie, however, was was not to happy with, what she still considered, lack of interaction and decided she would just eat Sophi instead!

We love having them together and can't wait to watch them grow into good friends! We still miss living close to Ashley and Graham and look forward to the day that changes!

We came back to Pasadena to celebrate New Years with my parents and experience the Tournament of Roses Parade. It was so neat to see the street outside our house fill up with people camping out New Year's Eve so they could watch the parade on New Years day. Fortunately, Dad bought us tickets in the grandstands so we did not have to spend the night outside!! We LOVED the parade! Sophi slept through most of it but what she did see we think she really enjoyed!

The next day we went to see the floats up close. All of them are made out of organic materials, it is pretty incredible!

Monday, Dad treated us to a special day and took us all to Disneyland!! We all had so much fun. Sophi got to meet Mickey and found her favorite ride, "It's a small World" which was still decorated for Christmas and looked so cute! Josh and I loved riding Space Mountain (my favorite ride at Disney World) but our favorite part of the day was getting to watch our little girl experience all the "magic of Disney."

Josh started teaching and classes on Tuesday and mom and dad went home on Wednesday. It's back to the real world for us. I am already looking forward to next Christmas, my favorite time of the year!

Christmas 09...part 2

We had such a great time celebrating Christmas with the Strahans. Since we stayed in Columbia for a little over a week we were able to visit several of our friends in Nashville. We loved having the opportunity to catch up with everyone and share our bundle of joy with them. We celebrated Christmas with the Strahans on Christmas eve day. We had a feast of turkey and dressing for lunch and spent the afternoon opening gifts. Our niece Bella is 3 and had a blast tearing open all the presents. She had to help Sophi open her gifts because "her hands are too small."

That evening we went to a Christmas Eve service at the church then headed back to the house to celebrate Jesus's birthday with some birthday cake!

Christmas day was spent in our pjs watching Christmas movies, working a puzzle, opening a few gifts and munching on leftover turkey and birthday cake!


Sophi's had such a fun first Christmas here in Tennesse! We leave tomorrow to head down to Atlanta for part three of our Christmas celebration with the Scobeys!

Christmas 09...part 1

Josh, Sophi, Shiloh and I celebrated Christmas as a family in Pasadena before we left for Tennessee. Our family tradition is to do stockings for each other. This year we got to buy presents not only for each other but for Sophi too!!!

I had assumed that I would be buying all of Sophi's gifts but when we went to open our stockings Josh brought out a few things he had bought Sophi on his own! It melted my heart and I hope this will become a tradition between him and her!



Josh got some cool new shoes and he got me a Moby Wrap which I hear is going to be so fun to use with Sophi.
The best gift of all, though, was our precious little girl!!

After stockings we had our Christmas dinner of steak and mashed potatoes (which we have decided should be a continued tradition!).

Two days later we flew to Tennessee with Sophi and Shiloh in tow. We survived the flight, thanks to the sweet American Airlines flight attendants that let us keep Shiloh in our lap!

Sophia's Baby Dedicaiton

Yesterday Sophia was dedicated at our church here in LA, Christian Assembly. What an awesome moment for Josh and I to publicly commit to continually living our lives as parents in reflection of God's great love and teaching our sweet baby girl how to do the same.

While our biological family was unable to be there, our life group family was there supporting and encouraging us on that special day (and taking lots of pics for us too!!).

After church everyone came over for a Christmas celebration! We had a great time sharing the day with friends enjoying good food, fun games, and sweet fellowship!

Thank you life group family for all the love and support you have shown us over the past year. Each of you means so much to us and we feel so blessed to have your friendship in our lives! We love you all!! Enjoy your Christmas vacations with family and friends!

Sophia turned three months old today! I can't believe it! She has grown in so many ways over the past month.
She has moved out of newborn diapers and is rapidly filling out (and up!) size ones!! She can hold her head up pretty much on her own now. She loves to smile at everyone (it's no longer just a gas smile!!) and has started to laugh!! Such a sweet little giggle she has!



She is "talking" to us more and more every day and can be quite serious in her conversation sometimes (must take after her mom, right Lolly?). She has also rolled over several times by herself but is not quite ready to take it on consistently yet.



She has also started reaching for things in the last few weeks and loves to grab hold of her daddy's nose. Sadly for him she has not yet learned how to let go!!

In January I will most likely be returning to work part time and Josh and I will begin sharing the duties of caring for our little girl during the day. If you remember please keep our family in your prayers as we begin this new phase of parenting, that everyone will have peace and find joy in our shared time with our little girl!

We will be spending Christmas with the Strahan's in Columbia, TN then back here to Pasadena for the new year with Lolly and Pops to attend the Rose Bowl Parade right across the street from our house! Lots of exciting new adventures ahead for Sophi in the next month. Stay tuned!!

A week of firsts

Sophi celebrated her first Thanksgiving with the Scobey family in Atlanta, GA. She flew on her first airline flight from LA to Atlanta and was such a trooper. She slept most of the way in her daddy's arms (thanks for all your traveling tips!!).

Apon arriving in Atlanta Sophi got to meet her sweet Aunt Ashley who bypassed all of us just to squeeze little Sophi's neck! I have a feeling they will have a special friendship! Sophi also got to meet her great Grandma and Grandpa and great Nana and Papa for the first time. She had so much fun getting to know them and sleeping in their arms (Nana has the special touch!).

Sophi also had the privilege of meeting her cousin Evie for the first time. Evie is 3 months older than Sophi and loved "talking" to her but was a little disappointed that Sophi would not respond!

We got the opportunity while we were there to fly up to Nashville and see Josh's parents. This offered Sophi the opportunity to take her first flight in Pops plane! I think she really enjoyed it!

While in Nashville Sophi got to meet her Aunt Nichole, Uncle Matt and her cousins Bella and Ian!

Back in Atlanta Sophi had the opportunity to meet all of her mom's cousins and their sweet kids (who are all under the age of two!) as well as my Aunt Karen and Uncle Gary. Thanksgiving day was spent at my Aunt Karen's house with all the cousins and kiddos where Sophi experienced the traditional Scobey Thanksgiving meal including Cajun fried Turkey and Grandma's macaroni and cheese!

The day before we traveled home Sophi took her second trip in Pops plane to meet her Great Great Grandmother, Mama Hazel. I think it was a trip Sophi (but especially mommy) will never forget!

Like I said, ALOT of firsts for Sophi during Thanksgiving week! All the hustle and bustle made her pretty sleepy! Can't wait to celebrate her first Christmas with the Strahan family in a few weeks!
