Just the two of us...

Josh and I took this past long weekend as one last opportunity to get away "just the two of us." We visited San Francisco, a place neither of us had ever been before (well I guess I went there when I was like seven or something but I don't remember it!).



We stayed in the Union Square area while there which is the shopping district of San Francisco with the Macy's, Nordstrom, and many, many more! I got to do a little shopping the first night we


were there (what little shopping you can do when you are 5 months pregnant!) Thanks Josh!

It was MUCH colder than we expected it to be while we were there (everyone had their winter jackets on. I didn't even know Californians owned winter coats!). This was a typical picture of me throughout the weekend, drinking Starbucks hot chocolate or mocha to stay warm and cozy!


On Sunday, Josh and I got up early and took on the challenge of biking the Golden Gate Bridge. We started in Fisherman's Warf, rode up to the bridge, across it and then down into the cutest little town called Sausalito. It was a bit cold but so much fun! What a great way to see the Golden Gate Bridge. And Sausalito was such a neat place. Next time we go we would love to just spend the weekend there!





We took the ferry back from Sausalito to Fisherman's Warf parked our bikes and stopped in at the world famous Boudin's Sourdough Bakery for some yummy clam chowder in an AMAZING sour dough bread bowl. It was a great way to warm up and it was soooo good! We got to see them making the bread which was really cool too!




After lunch we took a quick walk down Pier 39, taking in all the smells and sounds of that crazy place. We made sure to stop by and see the Sea Lions "sunbathing" on the pier (honestly, this was somewhat gross to me as there were soooo many of them!).




Our next stop was Alcatrez, where we took the awesome audio tour of the old maximum security facility. We both really enjoyed the tour, it really made you feel as though you were there experiencing a part of history.

The next day we drove down the famous crooked Lombard street, a must see while there! Can't believe they built a street like that!




Our final stop before heading out of town was to check out the famous "painted ladies." For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about based on the picture check out the row of houses behind me, these are the "painted ladies." Any Full House fans out there?! These houses are in the opening song of the show!




We had such a great time getting out of town and spending time "just the two of us" exploring a fun new city. Our next weekend get away will be " just the three of us!"

It's a....

Josh and I had a VERY exciting weekend! We found out on Friday that we are having a precious little....GIRL!!! Her name is Sophia Caris Strahan. Sophia means wisdom in greek and Caris means grace in greek. We will call her Sophi!!

My parents were in town and able to share this special time with us. It was so neat to watch their excitement as they got to see and anticipate another little granddaughter. Friday night we went to dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday and the excitment of discovering we are having a girl.
Sunday we celebrated Mother's day with breakfast a cute little restaurant here in Pasadena then headed to the Rose Bowl Flea Market, one of the largest flea markets in the country. We were able to find the perfect dresser for Sophi's room while we were there. And mom found the cutest little rocking horse for little Sophi to use when she arrives!

As the nursery has begun to come together, Shiloh has begun to take note that something is changing. He is starting to get exciting about meeting his sister when she comes home!


Josh and I are also getting excited about meeting our little girl too. Mom bought us both diaper bags this weekend to begin getting prepared for her to enter our world!

20 weeks...

...we are half way there!! Can't wait to meet you little guy!!

Rock a bye baby...

A lot has gone on the past few weeks...and unfortunately I have not done a good job getting pics of all the fun things we have done!

Two weekends ago Josh and I got to go back to Nashville (Columbia really) and visit his parents. It was soooo nice! We had so much fun catching up with his folks, seeing his brother, sister-in-law and our niece and nephew! We ate lots of things I had been craving....such as Chick-fil-A and Cracker Barrel! When we got to the airport to come back to LA on Sunday we were both really sad. We miss the south, we miss being close to our family, and we are both ready to come back home! We definitely feel we are where God wants us to be right now, but our hope is that we will get the opportunity to move back to the south (hopefully Nashville!) by the end of next year!

This past weekend we made our first big purchase for the baby...we bought a crib! What a neat experience. It was so fun to see Josh get so excited about it, getting caught up in the nesting with me! We can't wait to set it up here at the house...hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Finally, we are starting to feel the baby kick! I have been able to feel him move for a few weeks now but just the flutters. Now Josh can even feel him kick. What an amazing, awesome moment to feel our little one telling us he is there!

We will find out if it's a boy or girl on May 8! We can't wait!!! Stay posted for the big announcement.

4 Years Together

Thursday Josh and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary! We celebrated Thursday night by cooking a meal together, shrimp cocktail (I had just a few) to start, some grilled cedar plank salmon with asparagus and roasted potatoes as the main course, and some sparkling white grape juice and an M&M McFlurry (can you tell someone's pregnant?!) for dessert! Friday night we went out to a really great restaurant here in Pasadena, the Parkway Grill! It was soooo wonderful! I got the filet which was excellent, and something I had been craving for quite a while, and Josh got the Kobe burger with sweet potato fries. For dessert we had this awesome twist on traditional smores. I would go back again just for that!! What a great place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives!

We are both amazed at how fast time goes by. We feel so blessed to have had the last four years to spend with each other and wouldn't change a thing about all that has happened to us during that time. Not only has our love for each other grown deeper and stronger but we have grown into true best friends! We look forward to seeing all that God is going to do in our lives over the next four years!

Visiting the Doctor

We had two doctors appointments over the last few weeks. Our first one was with my regular OBGYN. Since my last visit I have gained four pounds putting me at a whopping 101 pounds which my doctor was quite pleased with seeing as I had lost weight at my previous visit! My blood pressure was good, 117 over something (I don't remember but they said it was good). He listened to the baby's heartbeat (baby was moving all around so it was hard to hear it) and said that it sounded really good. I go back in 4 weeks and will probably find out the sex at my 21 week appointment if not sooner! I am beginning to live my life in four week increments anxiously anticipating the next time I get see and hear our little one!

Our second appointment was with the doctor at the hospital again (see last post for details). Unfortunately, it was good but unsuccessful. There just wasn't enough room for the baby to lay flat with the way my placenta is shaped and positioned. So we will just have the one test during my second trimester to go on.

The baby was very active which was fun, and was sitting up when we first saw him! The heartbeat was 150 beats per minute which the doc said was normal. He is measuring at 13.5 weeks which is about a week earlier than where we are. This could mean our due date might be a week off or the baby may just be growing a little faster right now and will even out a little later. OR it could mean I could just have a big baby...which I am not to excited about! We got to see the little fingers and toes wiggling today which was fun! And he certainly is not shy of the camera because he kept turning to face us which was really cute.

SO.....mommy and baby are both doing well!
