Our sweet Maddie turns 1 year old today. I'm not quite ready to imagine her as anything other than my baby.
Here are a few things about our Maddie at age 1:
She is now not just walking but running. She has mastered walking in shoes, walking up and down hills, walking in the grass, climbing up and down stairs, and running away from anyone who is trying to put clothes on her!
Her new favorite game is pulling things out of cabinets, draws, bins, etc. and bringing them to someone, then going back for more.
She wants to be doing WHATEVER her sister is doing. If Sophi goes out to play by herself Maddie stands at the door and throws a fit, banging on the windows and stomping her feet. And yes, she throws bigger fits then her sister already.
She has started pointing and loves to point something and "say" what it is (in her own language)!
She is very dramatic and isn't afraid to let you know how she is feeling, what she wants or even to push an older kid (sister) out of her way! She is one fierce little girl.
(who me?! Dramatic? No!!)
She is still a mommy's girl but has become much more adventurous in her new found freedom of walking. Being at the park is chaos trying to keep up with the two of them!
She has become a daddy's girl and runs to see him every time he comes home. "Dada" is one of the only words she says consistently right now. She jabbers ALOT but nothing else is recognizable at this point.
She waves hi and goodbye, says "mama" for more, and consistently says bottle and diaper.
She LOVES to be outside.
She loves music and loves to dance. Some of her favorite books right now are ones that play songs.
She loves to laugh and has the best time playing the chase game with daddy and sophi! Her belly laugh is beautiful!
She is still taking two bottles a day but mommy is hopeful that will be changing really soon!
She had a pretty sever reaction to eating eggs and is still allergic to legumes. She has allergy testing the beginning of next month which we hope will give us a better idea of what she can and can not eat. She currently loves to eat yogurt, cheese, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, pears and peaches, poppyseed chicken, pizza, oatmeal, corn, asparagus, joes o's and puffs. She does not like eating anything really sweet, bananas, and strawberries.
She has transitioned into a big car seat and because of the size of our car now gets to sit in the middle next to Sophi. The first time they rode next to each other they belly laughed all the way to school.
Whenever Maddie is tired she will come and lay her head on your back or shoulder, only for a moment though before she is off doing something else. She is a very busy little girl.
She is cautious but not fearful, loves to climb up anything with stairs, go down slides, and will usually try to do whatever the big kids around her are doing.
Sweet Maddie, I can't begin to tell you how much I love you and how much joy you have brought to my life. As I look back and remember the day God brought you into this world I can't help but sing His praises for the perfect miracle he gave me in you. You have surprised me over and over again with your tenacity and strength, your sweet and tender spirit and your curls! I pray that as this next year unfolds God will give me the ability, wisdom and patience to be the Momma you need, to help grow you into His daugther. I can't wait to see all that you become over this next year. I feel so lucky to be able to share in it with you.
Maddie, I am amazed by you and I love you with all my heart!
