Two of my favorite men
I love these two men! They play a huge part in who I am today and who I will continue to become. They mean more to me then I can put into words. And I am SO glad that Sophi has the opportunity to know them, be shaped by them and be loved by them! She is one lucky lady!

Beach Days
In my previous post I mentioned our crazy trip to get to Atlanta to spend some time with Lolly and Pops at their beach condo in Panama City Beach, Fl. Unfortunately, due to weather, we could not fly in Pops plane from Atlanta PCB and had to drive instead. Sophi was an excellent car traveler and slept over half of the 5 or so hour car ride down!
Sophi had her first taste (literally) of the beach, Lolly's favorite place to be (and mommy's too!) and LOVED it. She loved playing with the sand in her hands and could not get enough of the water. Unfortunately, it was too cold to really play in the water at the beach, or the pool for that matter, but what little water time Sophi got she LOVED! We will be signing up for swimming classes very soon to get more water time!
We ate a lot of good food, watched some good movies, and relaxed which was much needed for Josh and I. Sophi got a lot of attention from Lolly and Pops which she truly enjoyed. She also got to spend some time with her Great Aunt Gigi which was super fun!
Friday night, after making the drive back from the beach to Atlanta earlier that day, Sophi got sick. She woke up every hour Friday night. Her nose would not stop running, she couldn't breath and kept coughing constantly. We took her temp when she woke up early Saturday morning and sure enough she had a fever too! We were flying back to Pasadena that evening and had no choice but to take our poor little sick baby on the cross country plane ride back home.
We changed planes in Dallas, TX again and 10 minutes after boarding the plane we were told they were having mechanical difficulties. Twenty minutes later we were told we would have do de-board the plane so they could turn the power off and back on. After de-boarding the plane and waiting in the terminal another 20 minutes we were told we could re-board the plane. The only person with a smile on their face through this whole ordeal was our little sick Sophi! Once we arrived in our seats for the second time and finally took off, heading for home, Sophi feel asleep on her mommy and slept the whole way! What a trooper!!!
Saturday night was another rough night with little sleep (not to mention the three hour time change we were all adjusting too!) and our little girl only seemed to get worse as the day went on Sunday. I called the doctor Monday morning and was told I needed to bring her in. We found out that not only did Sophi have the cold virus that was causing a lot of her symptoms, she also had an ear infection in not one, but BOTH of her ears! Poor baby!! Not much you can do for a cold but fortunately they could give her antibiotics for her ears!
I am happy to report that today she is starting to feel a little better and becoming her old self again. It has been a rough couple of days but I have so enjoyed having a cuddly baby again. Cherish the moments even when the are tough!!
And even though it ended on a bad note, we so enjoyed our time with Lolly and Pops! Thank you for letting us spend our spring break with you at the beach!! Looking forward to spending more time with you soon!

Crazy day
Wow! We have had quite the week this past week! As mentioned in my previous post, Josh and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary last Friday. We had such a fun day together as a family. We ate a picnic lunch and hung out the park that afternoon which was so much fun! The weather was great and Sophi loved feeling the grass on her hands and knees! 
That night Josh and I celebrated with a nice dinner out, just the two of us, at one of our favorite restaurants here in Pasadena(thanks Megan for babysitting!).
The next morning I got up extremely early for a Saturday to participate in my first ever triathlon with my friend and former co-worker Renee. Before you call me crazy let me clarify by saying it was a sprint triathlon which means we ran 3 miles, biked 9 miles and swam 150 meters in that order. The great thing was it was at the Rose Bowl, just minutes from our house. Sophi and Josh came to cheer us on at the end and it was so nice to see their smiling faces as we completed the race! Renee and I had so much fun and feel confident there will be more triathlon action in our future.
The craziest part of that day for us was not the triathlon but rather the cross country trip we began an hour and a half after I finished the race. Sophi, Josh and I headed to Atlanta to spend our Spring Break with my parents (and all the other crazy college kids) down in Panama City Beach, FL. I will write more about our time there in next few days.
Needless to say it was a very a long day for me and us as a family, traveling across 3 time zones, changing planes in Dallas, TX where it was snowing, waiting on the tarmac 45 minutes while they deiced the plane (this is March right?!) and finally arriving in Atlanta at 12:30am all with a 6 month old!
Our day of travel home yesterday was just as eventful, if not more so, and we are all still trying to recover from it. This is when we are sad to live so far away from our family, because traveling to see them is just so hard! We miss you Lolly and Pops! Looking forward to seeing you in May!

5 years of bliss
5 years ago today Josh and I pledged our love and commitment to each other and were married before our family and friends. What a joyous day that was for us, one that we will never forget! Who would have known in that moment as we said "I do" that 5 years from then we would be living in Pasadena, CA with our beautiful baby girl!
The past 5 years, although they have had their difficult moments, have been the best 5 years of my life. I fall more and more in love with Josh each day we are together. I can not imagine living my life without him. He is truly my best friend and I am so honored to be his wife. He is more than I deserve and I thank God that he gave such a special gift to me.
I love you Joshy! You are an amazing father, husband, and friend. I couldn't do this with out you. Thank you for loving me the way you do despite all my faults and flaws. Thank you for supporting me over the past five years and giving me the confidence to be who God has created me to be. I can't wait to see all that God has in store for us in the next 5 years!!!

Sophi turned 6 months old yesterday. Where has the time gone!!! 
Our little girl is truly exploring the world these days! She is rolling over, and over and over to get whatever she wants that is out of her reach (which is usually something she shouldn't have!). She also does 360 degree turns while on her tummy, pushes up and scoots backwards. Crawling is not for away for this little girl!
She loves to sit and play but still prefers standing most of all. She loves to walk from room to room holding on to our fingers. Her favorite "person" is still Shiloh, but I think her daddy is a close second!
Sophi started eating solid food this month. She is still getting the hang of it. She has only had rice and oat cereal but we are looking forward to trying new fruits and vegetables in the coming weeks and months! Through this process we have learned that Sophi likes to do things on her own, without our help. I am thinking this might be a trait that sticks with her throughout her life!
Here are Sophi's stats for this month:
Height - 26 1/4 inches - 75th percentile
Weight - 15 pounds 1 once - 50th percentile
Head - 16 and 1/4 inches - 50th percentile
I will complete my last day of work this Wednesday and return to staying at home full-time with Sophi. Josh will return to full-time work as a student and teacher as well as studying for his comprehensive exams that he will be taking at the end of August. We have also decided we will remain here in Pasadena for another year as Josh completes his dissertation. It makes us sad to think about how far away we will continue to be from so many people we love but we are also excited to see what God has in store for us as we remain here in California! And we are excited to spend more time with the precious friends we have made here, our family away from home!
Our transition into parenthood the past 6 months has been one of such peace and joy and we are grateful for all those who have played a part in making our smooth transition possible!
