2 months old!!

Today our little Sophi turns 2 months old!! I can't believe it. The past month has been so much fun as Sophia begins discovering her world and we continue discovering her little personality (she has a big one!!).At Sophi's two month check up the doctor said she was doing excellent!! She weighed in at 10 pounds 1.5 ounces. She is still 21 and 3/4 inches long but moving up on the height chart and staying in the 75% category. She is still a great sleeper which the doctor said was truly a blessing. She's such a cuddle bug when she's sleepy!

Sophi has discovered her hands over the past month and constantly is putting her fists in her mouth! She has also discovered her feet in the last week and likes to stare at them as they move, realizing she is doing the moving. It is soooo cute!

Sophi loves to sit up and hold her head up. She also loves to stand and often takes steps while being helped to stand. I think she is going to skip the crawling and go straight to walking. She is holding her head up more during tummy time and working really hard on rolling over. Not quite there yet but close!!One of the cutest things that has changed in the last month is Sophi's ability to talk. She LOVES to talk to you and also loves to sing (my kinda girl!). She will sit and smile at you and just babel away or just simply talk to her herself, no need for mom or dad to be present to discuss the goings on in her world!

Sophi has a contagious smile and loves to laugh. We think God has filled this little one's heart with joy!(I think she looks a lot like my dad in this picture, as Josh says, "That's a David Scobey face!)

Sophi will be taking her first plan ride in a little over a week as we travel to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel across the country with our little one. If you have any advice for plane travel with a two month old please let me know!!

Kathryn's visit

My best friend from childhood, Kathryn "Polston" Baird, came out from Georgia to visit and meet our little Sophi. What a blessing it was to get to spend so much time with her. We both agreed that this was probably the longest amount of time we had spent together since highschool and probably would be the longest for awhile.


We had so much fun hanging out together and seeing some of the sights of LA. We spent one afternoon at the Getty enjoying the views and the art.

Saturday Josh stayed home with Sophi so Kathryn and I could hit the beach. We went out to Malibu to have lunch at Paradise Cove.

We spent one afternoon shopping for maternity clothes and browsing several baby stores since Kathryn is pregnant!! This is what she might look like a few months from now!!

Kathryn I had soooo much fun having you here! You are such an amazing friend to me and I am so thankful that our friendship has withstood the test of the distance between us! I love you and am so glad you are a part of our daugther's life. I can't wait to come out and visit you when baby Baird arrives!!!

Happy Halloween

6 weeks old!!

The past two weeks have gone by so fast I can't believe Sophi is already 6 weeks old!!

Since my last post Sophi has had another visit from her Lolly,

met our friends Kutter and Jessica who were visiting from Colorado

and

got to meet her Grammy and Poppy for the first time!!

We have had so much fun visiting with all our friends and family. Sophi loved hanging out with her Grammy and Poppy and getting to know them better. She has started to recognize people more often and is laughing and smiling more and more each day. She has also started cooing and "talking" to us more! She loves to lay on her changing pad and look out the window, kicking and talking and laughing! We think she is going to be an outdoors girl!! We have also noticed she seems to kick her left leg and move her left arm more than her right which makes us think she might be a lefty!!

I have a one month old!!

One month ago today our little bundle of joy made her entrance into this world!! I had no idea on that day how my life would completely change. Nor did I realize how much love I had in my heart for such a tiny little thing!!

Sophia had her one month appointment this past week at the doctor. She is doing very well!! She weighs 8 pounds 9 ounces putting her in the 25-50% for her weight. She measured 21 and 1/4 inches long putting her in the 50-75% for her height (a % I have NEVER seen for my height!!). Her head circumference was 13 and 3/4 inches putting her in the 10% for her head circumference (this is something my mom said she got from me!). Because she was doing so well with her eating and weight the doctor said we did not have to continue waking her up during the day to feed. We could let her sleep and dictate when she wanted to eat, something I think she likes very much! No shots at this visit thank goodness, those will happen next month.

Sophi celebrated her one month birthday by going to church for the first time this morning. She really enjoyed the music and meeting all of her extended family.

Lolly has been with us this past week and it has been so fun! Sophi has only been put down when she HAS to go to bed!! Josh and I have been pretty spoiled as well with lots of love and good food!




Grammy and Poppy (Josh's parents) come this week and we are so looking forward to having them here! Happy fall everyone!!

Uncle Graham's visit

My brother came to visit us for a few days to meet Sophi. It was so fun having him here and it made me realize how much I miss living close to him. He is such a loving brother, husband and dad. 3 weeks old

Sophia is three weeks old today! Where does the time go? Josh and I can already see how much she has grown in the past three weeks. It is truly amazing. What a precious gift God has given us!!
As I mentioned last week, Josh and I had been anxiously anticipating Sophi's umbilical cord falling off as it was beginning to gross us out. Well, that finally happened this past week. Only it did not all fall off!!! We had an oozing, still gross looking belly button. We had to take Sophi to the doctor because she had what we found out to be called a granuloma. The doctor put silver nitrate on it to burn the rest of the umbilical cord so it would fall off. Two days later the rest of it had pretty much fallen off and Josh and I are feeling much better about looking at it now! (Sorry no pictures - just too gross!)

While we were at the doctor they weighed Sophi again and she was up to 8 pounds 1.5 ounces!! She is now at the top of the growth chart for her age! Way to go baby girl! Because of her weight gain the doctor gave us the go ahead to let her sleep through the night instead of having to wake her up. However, I am beginning to think she is TRULY my daughter because since we received the permission to let her sleep she goes to bed at 10:00pm and wakes up at the EXACT same time every night, 2:30am to be exact. She then goes back to sleep until we wake her up when we get up the next morning. She must just like routine and staying on schedule like her mommy!! So no full nights sleep yet but we are close!!

Sophi is starting to hold her head up a little more each day during tummy time. She loves to look at lights and mobiles, already enjoys reading (being read to), and always recognizes her daddy's voice when he comes into the room. I think she might be a daddy's girl already.
